Franklin Natural Resources and Franklin Northern Land Company, affiliates of Franklin Property Corporation, leased 400 acres of its northern Michigan land holdings in Emmet and Charlevoix Counties to Chesapeake Energy Company for oil and gas exploration. Chesapeake Energy, a public oil and gas exploration company based in Oklahoma, has substantially increased its land lease holdings in Northern Michigan in competition with other international energy companies vying for land in the market.

Franklin Property Arranges Hotel Financing
Franklin Property Corporation arranged the construction and permanent financing for the new Hampton Inn and Suites in Pinedale, Wyoming. Retained by one of the leading national hotel development and management companies—Hotel Investment Services, Inc.—Franklin Property was able to secure financing on behalf of an investment group at the height of the financial crisis. Hampton Inn and Suites, a 102-room hotel, is scheduled to open February of 2009.
The Pinedale Hampton Inn is one in a series of hotels developed and managed by Hotel Investment Services as part of its expansion into the Wyoming marketplace. The company manages a portfolio of hotels, conference centers, golf courses and retreat centers throughout the country.
Franklin Property Corporation has also been retained by the company to assist it in site planning and due diligence evaluation for other area hotels.
